| ShopLocal Index Indicates Web-to-Store
Growth of 40% in 2005
More Shoppers Using Online Circulars to Browse
Sales at Their Local Stores
CHICAGO – January 10, 2006 –
ShopLocal, LLC, the leading provider of Web-to-store and e-commerce
marketing solutions for retailers, introduced its inaugural
ShopLocal Index numbers today, showing a dramatic 40% percent
increase in unique Web-to-Store shopping visitors from 2004
to 2005 based on figures from ShopLocal's SmartCircular clients.
Created to provide a snapshot of Web-to-Store shopping growth,
the ShopLocal Index is a cross-section of the industry's Top
100 retailers across several categories, including Target,
Home Depot, Best Buy, and Office Depot. The 2005 numbers indicate
that consumers continue to use the Web to research sales and
shop locally more frequently, and that interest in viewing
local sales information via the Web is rapidly growing.
"Retailers and marketers alike should take note of this
tremendous opportunity to communicate with highly motivated
ready-to-buy shoppers who are looking for more local store
and product information,” said ShopLocal CEO Brian Hand.
"As baby boomers become more multi-channel and other
consumers continue to search for money and time saving deals
on the Web, local store and sales information will become
an even more valuable industry tool."
A closer look at the ShopLocal Index shows substantial growth
on a quarter-to-quarter basis, with the biggest growth coming
in Q1 2005 versus Q1 2004. The following are ShopLocal Index
numbers broken down by quarter:
Q1 '04 to Q1 '05: 198%
Q2 '04 to Q2 '05: 30%
Q3 '04 to Q3 '05: 31%
Q4 '04 to Q4 '05: 16%
Beginning in 2005, ShopLocal will offer quarterly updates
on the ShopLocal Index.
Additionally, the company’s website ShopLocal.com (www.shoplocal.com)
ended 2005 with a 143.5% increase in visits, making it one
of the fastest growing shopping sites on the Web.
